Embedded Device

This is a control device that is built into a larger piece of equipment. The 'embedded device' has the task of controlling some features within the equipment.

The embedded device is often a computer chip that also has some input and output pins connected to other electronic devices and sensors.

For example a dvd player would have an embedded computer to control the user interface, and it might have another embedded device to control copy protection.
