Contrast Ratio

An imaging term.

Contrast Ratio is the difference between Blackest black and the whitest White on a display.

For example if a television screen has a contrast ratio of 2000:1 it means that the white is 2000 times brighter than the Black. Projectors also make use of contrast ratio to describe their viewing quality.

Normally the higher the contrast ratio the better.
